The Waves of Malachite represent the deep, soothing energy we find when we finally choose ourselves. For years, I was caught in the high-pressure world of corporate demands, feeling the heat of a burnout that threatened to turn my spirit to ash. But then, a shift happened. I felt The Waves of Malachite washing over me, calling me back to my true nature. As a soul geologist, I knew I had to leave that artificial structure to find a more organic way of living in the heart of France.
Moving to Paris was my way of reclaiming my rhythm. I stopped measuring my success by professional titles and started measuring it by the depth of my peace. This “Malachite Peace” is like the stone itself—rich with layers, history, and a protective energy that keeps us grounded. It is the formula for happiness that I had been searching for during all those years in the minerals industry. I realized that my most important engineering project was my own soul.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the “grind” of daily life, listen for the sound of your own inner waves. You don’t have to stay in an environment that causes your spirit to erode. You have the power to change your landscape. Trust the flow of your life and let it carry you toward a place where you can breathe, create, and simply be. Your happiness is not a luxury; it is the bedrock of a life well-lived.
Godinama sam mjerila svoj svijet u milimetrima, mikronima i preciznim molekularnim rešetkama.
Danas sjedim u Parizu. Pod mojim nogama škripi stari drveni parket, onaj koji ima svoju povijest, svoje godove i svoju dušu. Moje buđenje više nije diktirano agresivnim tonom budilice. Ponekad se oči otvore u četiri, ponekad u šest, a ponekad me sunce zatekne u pola osam.
Geometrija Malahita
Često me moji čitatelji i prijatelji pitaju: “Sanja, zašto malahit? Zašto je baš taj zeleni kamen tvoj simbol mira?” Odgovor leži u njegovoj strukturi. Pogledajte malahit izbliza. Njegove linije nisu ravne.
On me ne pita zašto ne gledamo film zajedno.
The Waves of Malachite: My Engineering Formula for Escaping the Laboratory of Security
For years I measured my world in millimeters, microns, and precise molecular lattices. In Vancouver, my life was a perfectly calibrated instrument. Every morning at exactly six o’clock, the bathroom mirror showed me the same woman: a face framed by “perfect security,” but eyes that were slowly losing the gleam of those childhood crystals I once collected by the sea.
I worked in a company. I had mortgages that pressed down on my chest every night like invisible tectonic plates. I was responsible to other people’s clocks, other people’s deadlines, and other people’s expectations. My microscope was my only window into the reality I knew, but while I observed the structures of rocks, my own internal structure was slowly eroding.
The steel of the laboratory instruments was cold to the touch, but colder still was that quiet, dull fear that would wake me up at three in the morning—the fear of the question: “Is this all there is?”
Today I am sitting in Paris. Beneath my feet creaks the old wooden parquet, the one that has its own history, its tree rings, and its soul. My waking up is no longer dictated by the aggressive tone of the alarm clock. Sometimes my eyes open at four, sometimes at six, and sometimes the sun catches me at half-past seven. But do you know what the biggest difference is? The weight of the second.
There is no longer that pressure in my stomach that forces you to jump immediately into the arena. If I wake up at the crack of dawn, it is no longer out of panic over work backlogs. It is a gift of time that I have given to myself. If I feel that my body is asking for more of that soft, velvety sleep, I simply turn to the other side or go to the couch and sleep off those two hours I “stole” from the morning. That freedom not to look at the clock, to be the owner of my own minutes, is the most expensive thing I have ever “bought” by giving up false security.
The Geometry of Malachite
My readers and friends often ask me: “Sanja, why malachite? Why is that green stone your symbol of peace?” The answer lies in its structure. Look at malachite up close. Its lines are not straight. They do not follow the strict geometry of an engineering blueprint. They are wavy, unpredictable, gentle, and fluid.
Such is my nature, the one I tried to straighten out in the laboratory for years. I am not a black-and-white world of strict rules. I am a woman who has learned that life is “slightly wavy.” I easily accept changes because I have realized that rigidity is the trait of a dead stone, and adaptability is the trait of a crystal that is still growing. In those green waves of malachite, I see my youth—not the chronological one, but the spiritual one, eager to learn and explore new horizons.
As I write these lines, my husband sits beside me. There is silence in the room, but it is not that cold silence of the Vancouver laboratory. This is the warm, sedimented silence of two people who understand each other. He doesn’t ask me why we aren’t watching a movie together. He knows that right now I am “mining” the deepest layers of my soul. He understands that my writing is my new engineering—joining emotions into solid bridges toward other people. This is the kind of love that doesn’t put you in chains of obligations, but gives you the wings of freedom.
My Formula for the Risk of Happiness
I know that right now, there is at least one woman reading me who is exactly where I was fifteen years ago. A woman who feels her “secure job” slowly drinking the color from her cheeks. A woman suffocated by mortgage payments and the fear of what others will say if she gives up. To her, I want to leave my engineering formula for the “Risk of happiness”:
Freedom = Faith – Fear x (Mortgages + Other People’s Expectations)
From an engineering perspective, you cannot increase freedom if you do not reduce the fear variable. Security, my dears, is often just a prettier name for the cage we have built ourselves. The moment you decide to untie the ropes, you are not heading into the dangerous unknown. You are actually heading home—where your soul has lived for a long time, waiting for you to show up.
I chose Paris. I chose morning jogs along the Seine, the smell of a fresh croissant, and a silence that no longer smells like death, but like a new beginning. But Paris is not just a city on the map of France. Paris is every place, every decision, and every moment where your peace is more important than anyone’s profit or applause.
Each of you has your own Paris. Each of you has your own “mooring rope” that keeps you tied to a shore that no longer offers anything but routine. My question to you is simple: When will you, finally, untie the ropes?
