The Price of Freedom is a story about the strength we find when we lose everything. I lived for years in a marriage that was not my world. I ignored my intuition until betrayal forced me to wake up. This journey, The Price of Freedom, began when I started writing my first book, If You Let Me. It was not just writing; it was a cry for help from my soul.

I left my old life on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I carried a lot of guilt that was not mine. Soon after, I faced a terrible diagnosis: breast cancer. In three months, I lost my health, my job as an engineer, and my security. My ex-husband thought I would fail. He was wrong. I chose peace over a life without love. To understand how pressure creates strength in nature, you can read about the formation of diamonds. Below is my story about the fire that burns within us and the path back to ourselves.

Cijena Slobode i Put Natrag do Sebe

Bol koja me natjerala da prvi put uzmem olovku u ruke i pretočim tugu u stihove svoje knjige If You Let Me.

Odlazak kroz vatru i krivnju

Iako sam u Kanadi izgubila sve materijalno, dobila sam ono najvažnije — istinu.

The Price of Freedom and the Path Back to Myself

They say diamonds are created under incredible pressure, but nobody tells you how much that pressure hurts while it lasts.
For a long time, I lived in the belief that I had no right to another choice. I married because I thought I had to, a man who wasn’t my world, suppressing my own intuition for years. And then came the betrayal. The pain that forced me to pick up a pen for the first time and pour my sorrow into the verses of my book If You Let Me. It wasn’t just writing; it was the cry of my soul starting to wake up.

Leaving through fire and guilt

I left one quiet Sunday afternoon. I left with a feeling of guilt that wasn’t mine, but I carried it as my own burden. I left everything — the things, the house, the walls — just to save what little life was left in me.
The punishment for my courage was cruel. Alone in a rented apartment, separated from my children, I faced a blood-chilling diagnosis: malignant breast cancer. In three months, I lost my health, my job as a geological engineer, and my security. The world wasn’t at zero; it was deep below zero.

Returning from the ashes

He hoped I would fail. He hoped that poverty and illness would force me to crawl back to him. But he didn’t know what material my “Magmastar” was made of.
Although I lost everything material in Canada, I gained the most important thing — the truth. It took eight years of separated life for the divorce papers to finally be signed, but my freedom started long before that. It started the day I decided I would rather choose the fight for a life in peace than a slow death in a loveless marriage.

What did I learn?

Today, as I look at my books on Amazon, I know that each of those $4.99 for my book carries a piece of that victory. My message to all of you feeling trapped:
Guilt is often someone else’s projection. Do not carry it.
Illness can be a wake-up call. I escaped the claws of death stronger.
It is never too late for a new beginning. From Canada to Croatia, from cancer to health, from silence to authored books — the path was hard, but it is mine.
Believe in yourself even when they tell you you will fail.
Because only you know how much fire burns within you.
