Pyrite and Microscope - Distinguishing Truth from Fake Gold

Episode 4: Pyrite and the Microscope

Notably, Pyrite and Microscope analysis was my daily reality while working as a geologist in Canada. I went from cleaning cages to examining the structure of rocks, but my private life was crumbling. I was looking through a lens at minerals. However, I also had to see the “fake gold” in my own home. This betrayal was hard to accept. Indeed, it forced me to find the real truth behind the surface. Specifically, this phase was as important as my discovery of The Coal Layer.

The Illusion of Fool’s Gold

In geology, there is a mineral called Pyrite, known as “fool’s gold.” It sparkles on the outside, but inside it is worthless. My first Canadian phase was exactly that. On the outside, we drove a new Toyota and lived in a big house. But on the inside, my family was a hollow geode. Consequently, I had to learn how to distinguish what is real from what is hollow.
The beginnings were raw. I worked in a shopping mall, hiding behind cages because of my English. The hardest lesson was cleaning rat cages. Eventually, I was fired. That firing was my blessing—an erosion that had to strip away that layer to reach the true rock. In the 1990s, diamonds were discovered in northern Canada, and my microscope became my salvation.

Building Amidst Destruction

I got a job as a geologist. While I analyzed samples, I became a mother for the second time. I was a working woman who earns and builds. But while I was building, my husband was destroying through an architecture of betrayal. He cheated on me with our landlady. She held us captive with low rent and debt. I was checkmated. I had a good salary, but a $1,000 car payment tied my hands.
In conclusion, I was living in chalcopyrite—a colorful metal that isn’t gold. Everyone thought we were doing great, while I knew the truth. I stayed silent and worked. I waited for my inner rock to become strong enough to withstand the earthquake. Furthermore, I earned my diploma of life during those nights. Truly, not everything that glitters is a diamond.

Epizoda 4: Pirit i mikroskop

Prevario me s našom gazdaricom.
