As If We Know Each Other: Welcome to this reflection on the mysterious connections of the human soul. Have you ever encountered a stranger and felt an immediate, ancient pull? This feeling is what I call the crystallization of recognition. As a former mineralogy engineer, I spent years studying how atoms align to form a perfect crystal. I believe that human souls follow a similar blueprint. Sometimes, two people meet, and the alignment is so perfect that it feels As If We Know Each Other from a different era.
In this poem, I explore the moment of meeting someone who feels familiar. It is a tectonic shift in the heart. You walk down a street in Paris or Vancouver, and suddenly, a gaze stops you. It is a silent dialogue. You look at them, and they look at you, and the world seems to whisper that this is not your first encounter. Even if you choose to pass by as strangers to protect your current peace, the internal truth remains. We say to ourselves, it is As If We Know Each Other, even if we never speak a word.

Kao da smo se već upoznali. Kao da se odnekud znamo. Moje prve izgovorene riječi prepoznaju tvoje odgovore, kao da se nikad nismo ni razdvajali.
Prošlo je vrijeme otkako mislim da smo se posljednji put vidjeli, ali u meni to traje kao da je bilo jučer — ono naše tiho, lijepo pričanje, puno poštovanja i nenametljive ljubavi.
Danas mi se učinilo da sam te opet srela. U jednom kratkom trenutku prepoznali smo se oboje. Zbunio nas je iskren osmijeh, onaj koji se ne može odglumiti.
I da nam se ne bi ponovila stara sudbina, pravili smo se da se ne poznajemo. Prošli smo jedno pored drugoga kao stranci — iako smo oboje znali da to nikada nismo bili.
Ponekad je najveća ljubav ona koja ostane u tišini. Podijeli ako si nekad osjetila taj pogled. 🤍

Comme si nous nous étions déjà rencontrés. Comme si nous nous connaissions de quelque part. Mes premiers mots reconnaissent tes réponses, comme si nous ne nous étions jamais séparés.
Le temps a passé… mais en moi, c’est comme si c’était hier — nos discussions calmes et belles, pleines de respect et d’amour discret.
Aujourd’hui, il m’a semblé te rencontrer à nouveau. En un bref instant, nous nous sommes reconnus. Un sourire sincère nous a troublés, celui qu’on ne peut pas feindre.
Nous sommes passés l’un à côté de l’autre comme des étrangers — même si nous savions tous les deux que nous ne l’avons jamais été. Certains liens n’ont pas besoin de preuves. Ils se reconnaissent.

Time has passed since I think we last saw each other, but inside me, it lasts as if it were yesterday — our quiet, beautiful talking, full of respect and unobtrusive love.
Today it seemed like I met you again. In one brief moment, we both recognized each other. We were confused by a sincere smile, one that cannot be faked.
We passed each other like strangers — even though we both knew we never were. Some connections don’t need proof. They are recognized.
