Geologija sudbine:

Dok sam pisala svoje knjige „If You Let Me“ i „Find the Way“, zapravo sam ispisivala kartu za svoj bijeg.

Trois secondes.

The Geology of Destiny:
Three Seconds That Conquered the Abyss

There are moments in life when the ground beneath your feet doesn’t just shake, but opens up completely and swallows everything you have built for years. As an engineer, I was used to calculations, stability, and structures. But life is not a blueprint on paper. My first marriage, the one I entered with a pure heart with my first boyfriend, was my first great delusion. While I believed in the sanctity of the family, he trampled on that sanctity with his best man’s wife, the woman who was our landlady in the house we rented. The betrayal was not only emotional; it was an erosion of my dignity that lasted for fourteen long years.
While writing my books “If You Let Me” and “Find the Way”, I was actually writing the map for my escape. I wrote them while working as an engineer, struggling to keep my sanity. I realized: if I want to survive, I have to leave. I walked into the unknown at the age of 44, leaving behind a mortgaged house, security, and, most terrifying of all, my sons whom my ex-husband wouldn’t let me take. He thought I wouldn’t dare. He thought the maternal pain would break me and bring me back to his cage of lies.
And then came the darkest period of my “mine”. I lost my job, the apartment I tried to buy, and on top of it all, the diagnosis arrived – breast cancer. Surgery, radiation, loneliness in Canada… my only support was three loyal friends. I returned to Split, broken and empty-handed, to see my father who was dying. After his death, I was left with my mother, two women with one pension, trying to survive by selling door-to-door insurance. I lost everything material, but that “Dalmatian child” in me refused to lower her head.
And then, on May 15, 2010, destiny decided that my endurance had been tested enough. A face appeared on the screen. Three seconds. That was all it took for my heart to tell me: “It’s him.” It was a friend request from a man who, by a twist of fate, was my fellow citizen, a man from Split who had gone to Paris as a baby. Our destiny was written in the old streets of Split long before we were born – his aunt worked with my mom, he knew me when I was a child, without us even knowing it. He spent his whole life in Paris looking for his girl from Split, waiting for that recognizable genetic code that only we carry.
We didn’t wait. After five days spent together in Paris, we knew everything. He came to Vancouver and we got married immediately. Without hesitation, without fear. We were united by the same music, the same food, the same love for art, but above all, the same need for truth.
Today, as I walk the French streets arm in arm with him, I know that every one of those earthquakes was necessary to bring me to this peace. This love is not a storm, it is my mountain at 1800 meters above sea level – where the air is so clean you can see eternity. He is my peace, my breath, and my proof that God or destiny always returns what was unfairly taken from you, only if you have the courage to stay true to yourself.
Now, when I wake up in the morning next to him, I feel that we are one. My erosion is complete.
I have become a crystal that no one can break anymore. I found the way, just like the title of my book says.
I have known love and now, with peace in my soul, I can say that it was worth every scar.
