The Support Pillar Syndrome describes the heavy burden of holding up everyone else’s world while your own foundation cracks. In my soul geology, I have seen how toxic people rely on your strength while resisting your boundaries. Dealing with The Support Pillar Syndrome requires the courage to stop being a static object and start being a living soul. I learned to release the guilt of not carrying others’ weight so I could finally find my Malachite Peace. This is a vital part of my Shamanic Lessons for anyone feeling exhausted by the demands of others.

Šamanske lekcije (Epizoda 1): Sindrom potpornog stupa i postavljanje granica
Umjesto toga, oni vas napadaju.
Shamanic Lessons (Episode 1): The Support Pillar Syndrome and Setting Boundaries
By: Magma Star, Geologist of the Soul
As a former mineralogy engineer, I spent years analyzing the structural integrity of materials. I know exactly how much weight a single concrete pillar can hold before micro-fractures begin to form. I know the breaking point of granite, and I know how the earth shifts when a load is suddenly removed.
But it wasn’t until I left the laboratory and started studying the “Geology of the Soul” that I realized human relationships operate on the exact same principles of physics.
If you are a compassionate, empathetic person—the kind of woman who always listens, always helps, and always bends her own schedule to accommodate others—you are not just a friend or a partner. In the architecture of a toxic relationship, you are a load-bearing pillar.
The Architecture of Exploitation
We often wonder why certain people in our lives—whether it’s a demanding boss, a narcissistic ex-husband, or an energy-vampire friend—react with such volcanic, disproportionate rage the moment we finally say “No.”
When you set a boundary for the first time, you expect them to understand. You expect them to say, “Oh, I see you are tired, I will step back.” Instead, they attack you. They call you selfish. They accuse you of abandoning them. They try to bury you in guilt.
Why? The answer is pure engineering.
When a person refuses to build their own internal foundation—when they refuse to process their own trauma, manage their own emotions, or take responsibility for their own life—they build a crooked, unstable house. To keep that house from collapsing, they lean heavily on the strongest thing in the room. That thing is you.
For years, you have been holding up their roof. You absorbed their stress, their complaints, and their chaos. You were the “soft earth” that absorbed the shockwaves of their poor choices.
The Collapse Is Not Your Fault
When you finally set a boundary—when you say, “I am no longer available for this conversation,” or “I am leaving this marriage,” or “I cannot help you today”—you are not just speaking a sentence. You are physically removing the support pillar from their crooked house.
And what happens to a poorly built house when you remove the main pillar? It collapses.
The screaming, the insults, and the guilt-tripping you experience from them are simply the sounds of their own structure falling apart. They are angry because now, for the first time, they have to feel the weight of their own roof. They have to face their own mess. And instead of looking at their weak foundation, it is much easier to blame the pillar that walked away.
A Shamanic Slap for the Guilt-Ridden Soul
If you are reading this today and you feel guilty because you finally walked away from someone who was draining your life force, let me give you a “shamanic slap” of reality:
It is not your job to hold up buildings that were designed to fall.
You are a human being, a brilliant, complex geode meant to shine and grow. You are not a piece of reinforced concrete meant to quietly absorb the abuse of people who refuse to fix themselves.
The next time a toxic person screams at you because you set a boundary, do not absorb their anger. Step back. Look at them with the calm, analytical eye of an engineer. What you are witnessing is not a reflection of your failure as a friend or a partner. You are witnessing the inevitable collapse of an unsustainable structure. Let it fall.
Brush the dust off your shoulders, turn around, and walk toward your own peace. Your energy is your most precious mineral. Stop spending it on other people’s ruins, and start using it to build your own castle.
